Starting this summer, advertisements for cosmetic procedures, such as breast augmentation or botox treatment, will have a warning.
This was reported by Health Minister Schippers.
On the state government site, people considering cosmetic surgery can find all the necessary information and ask questions.
‘Watch out! Making yourself more beautiful can turn out ugly. Successful surgery starts with a good doctor’, reads.
The government wants people to be well informed about possible risks in purely aesthetic cosmetic procedures. Such as breast augmentation or filler injections. The government also wants to better protect people from irresponsible risks.
The quality of treatment must go up and practitioners must be well trained. And advertisements must meet stricter standards.
One example to control is by checking with the doctor where you want the procedure done. You can see if the doctor is registered in the BIG registry. All our doctors are registered in the BIG register. Bart Biermans is affiliated with the NVCG.
