Obesity is a major problem in our modern society. No less than 50% of the Dutch have to deal with it. Losing weight is not easy and staying on a healthy weight is even harder. We therefore offer our clients a program in which you can lose weight based on injections that inhibit the feeling of hunger and give a feeling of satiety. Next to this medication you will also receive medical supervision from a doctor and nutrition and exercise advice from a nutrition coach.
How do injections for weight loss work?
The drug is similar to the natural GLP-1 hormone. It regulates appetite by decreasing the feeling of hunger and increasing the feeling of satiety. As a result, you will eat less and therefore lose weight. The injections are only available with a prescription. You can administer the injections yourself
New and revolutionary weight loss method
Weight loss methods are plentiful, but a method – with injections – that really makes weight loss possible is new. In addition, the results of the medicine we prescribe in our weight loss program are absolutely revolutionary. The drug has recently become available on the Dutch market, but has already completely conquered the markets of the United Kingdom, Denmark and the United States. Based on the action of the satiety hormone, it helps people lose weight effectively and sustainably. It is minimally invasive and the participant can work with it independently and easily.

The SmPC study (Summary of Product Characteristics) shows, for example, that the medicine we prescribe in combination with a lifestyle change on average 8 % weight loss achieved. That is groundbreaking to say the least. Most of the weight loss occurred in the first 4 months. In addition to the weight loss, the participants measured a decrease in abdominal circumference, glucose levels and a strong decrease in blood pressure. In addition, the drug lowered the risk of developing type II diabetes. SmPC studies are used by the Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB) when approving medication.
Losing weight under the guidance of a doctor and nutrition coach
Medical weight loss at The Body Clinic is done under supervision. To determine your trajectory, you always start with a consultation with a doctor. In the event of medical complications, you will also have access to your doctor during the weight loss program. During the program you will also receive primary support from a nutrition coach. The Body Clinic offers four weight loss programs. If you have specific wishes, you can discuss these during the consultation with the doctor or in the online session with the nutrition coach.
Independent program
- During the program you will be under the supervision of a doctor.
- You will receive a one-time online session with the nutrition coach at the start of the program.
- Injections are delivered to your home cooled
- 5 pens per month with 18 mg of medication per pen, excluding needles.
- When you start taking the medication, you will receive 3 pens for the first month because of a lower dosage when you build up the medication.
- Existing clients can order online and receive the medication cooled at home.

Care program

In 7 steps to your target weight
Below are the steps of medical weight loss in a nutshell.
1. Start: book an appointment
You start by making an appointment with a doctor at The Body Clinic to determine if you qualify for medical weight loss.
2. Medication check pharmacy
The doctor at The Body Clinic will check at the pharmacy to make sure you are not taking any other medication that does not go with the weight loss injections.
3. Phone conversation with the assistant
You will be called by an assistant from The Body Clinic to go through the medication and the program. This conversation lasts about 15 minutes.
4. Consultation in the clinic
You discuss the weight loss programs with the doctor and make a choice. The doctor will write out a prescription and you will immediately receive the injections home. This consultation takes approximately 15 minutes.
5. Online consultation nutrition coach
Depending on the program you have chosen, you and your nutrition coach will put together a suitable diet during the online consultation. One session lasts 30 minutes.
6. A daily mini-injection
You administer the injection yourself on a daily basis. The injection is minimally invasive and virtually painless. It will decrease your feeling of hunger and increase satiety
7. Target Weight
To stay at your target weight, a permanent lifestyle change is important. If you relapse, a combination with injections at a maintenance dose is possible.

Safety of injections for weight loss
At The Body Clinic we only use the best products from the market as you are used to from us. The injections for weight loss are therefore FDA approved, available on prescription and from a well-known pharmaceutical company. The product is extremely safe and extensively tested. The reason why we do not use the brand name on this page has to do with legal restrictions from the health inspectorate in the Netherlands that does not allow recommending a medicine to a consumer, so we stick to this.

What brand of injection are prescribed?

The medication is approved by the FDA and the Department of Health and only available by prescription in the Netherlands.
Can I administer the injections myself?
Yes, you can administer the injections yourself. During the consultation in the clinic, the doctor will show you how to administer the injection with the pen into your thigh, abdomen or upper arm. You will then administer the injections yourself with the pen.
What result can I expect?
Most people experience weight loss in the first week. The lower limit is a weight loss of 5% of the starting weight after 12 weeks.
When can I stop injections?
When you have reached your target weight you can stop the injections. However, maintaining weight can be very difficult. Losing weight with injections is therefore only really effective and sustainable in combination with a lifestyle change in the field of nutrition and exercise. That is why The Body Clinic offers this as a total package. If you do not manage to maintain your weight despite all your efforts, you can follow the ‘Stay Fit’ program with a maintenance dose for 6 or 12 months. However, this is only possible after completing an Independent or Care program.
If you have not lost at least 5% of your starting weight after 12 weeks, this may indicate that medical injections are not the solution for you. We therefore recommend that you book a consultation with your attending physician.
What are the side effects?
Like all medications, the injections can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them. The most common side effects are:
- headache,
- nausea,
- diarrhea,
- constipation
- and throw up.
These side effects usually disappear after a few days or weeks.
What is the dosage guideline?
The starting dose is 0.6 mg once daily. The dose should be increased to 3.0 mg (once daily) in 0.6 mg increments at least one week apart to minimize gastrointestinal distress.
- Week 1 – 0.6 mg – once daily
- Week 2 -1.2 mg – once daily
- Week 3 – 1.8 mg – once daily
- Week 4 – 2.4 mg – once daily
- Week 5 – 3.0 mg – once daily (maintenance dose)
A dose higher than 3.0 mg per day is not recommended.
Can I also only receive the injections without the supervision of the doctor and dietician?
The medicine is only available on prescription, so you cannot order it without the intervention of a doctor. We only offer weight loss with injections in a program with a dietician in programs of 1, 2, 3, 6 or 12 months.
Can I also get this medicine through my GP?
To lose weight with medical injections you always need a referral from a doctor. A GP can therefore also prescribe the injections, but losing weight with injections is only really effective and sustainable in combination with a lifestyle change in the field of nutrition and exercise. That is why The Body Clinic offers this total package.
Are injections to lose weight reimbursed by the health insurer?
The medication is the first anti-obesity drug included in the basic package. However, the reimbursement only applies to people with a BMI of 35 or higher who are already participating in the Combined Lifestyle Intervention (GLI) for 1 year. People with a BMI between 35 and 40 must also have 1 of 3 additional diseases.
