Therefore, we offer our clients weight loss programs under medical supervision, possibly with medication that inhibits the feeling of hunger and provides a feeling of satiety. In addition, you can take advantage of medical guidance from a doctor and nutrition coach.

Information about the medication
Various types of medication may be prescribed in this treatment. All medication is prescription required. If you are eligible for treatment, the medication will be prescribed by our doctor and dispensed by our affiliated pharmacist.
Home delivery for existing clients
For clients who are already using Medical Weight Loss with Injections and wish to continue with it, we offer the option of renewing it online. Your request will be reviewed by a physician, after which a prescription may be written. Our affiliated pharmacy then delivers the medication refrigerated to your home.
Effect of injections to lose weight
The action of the drugs is similar to the natural GLP-1 hormone. It regulates appetite by decreasing the feeling of hunger and increasing the feeling of satiety. This reduces appetite and therefore often leads to weight loss. The injections can be self-administered and are available only by prescription.

New weight loss method
Weight-loss methods abound, but one method – with injections – is new. The drugs have recently been available on the Dutch market, but for longer periods of time in the United Kingdom, Denmark and the United States. Based on the action of the satiety hormone, it helps people lose weight effectively and sustainably.
Medication results
For example, the SmPC (Summary of Product Characteristics) study shows that the medications we prescribe in combination with a lifestyle change achieve an average of 8% to 22% weight loss. In doing so, most of the weight loss occurred in the first 4 months. In addition to weight loss, participants measured a decrease in abdominal circumference, glucose levels and a sharp decrease in blood pressure. In addition, the drug lowered the risk of developing type II diabetes. SmPC studies are used by the Medicines Evaluation Board (CBG) when approving medications. Under the guidance of a doctor and coach, lose weight medically
Medical weight loss at The Body Clinic is done under supervision. To determine your course of action, you always start with a consultation with a physician. In case of medical complications, you also have access to your doctor during the weight loss program. First-line support is provided by the medical weight-loss coach. Watch the video below.
Consultation at the clinic or online
Treatment always begins with a consultation with a doctor. You have the choice of having this consultation at the clinic or online. During the consultation, the doctor will work with you to determine which program is best for you. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions. It is therefore important that you prepare well and read up before you come to the consultation. It is important that you read up well before you come to the consultation, the doctor can answer any questions you may have and provide additional information about the course, medication and creating healthy habits.
Programs and prices
The Body Clinic offers three weight loss programs, two of which include different medications. A program with medication is provided only when you meet the indications. Following the physician’s assessment, a prescription may be issued.
Stater (low dose) program
- 1-month low-dose program before starting medication
- Start with physician consultation to evaluate medical aspects and causes of your obesity
- During the program, you will be under the supervision of a physician.
- Two online sessions with coach medical weight loss
- Your medical weight loss coach monitors your progress and makes adjustments as needed.
- Injections/pills are delivered to your home by our affiliated pharmacy
Independent program
- Program of 1, 2, 3, or 6 months
- During the program, you will be under the supervision of a physician.
- You get a one-time online session with the coach medical weight loss at the start of the program.
- Injections/pills are delivered to your home by our affiliated pharmacy
- Existing clients can order online and get the medication delivered to their homes chilled by our affiliated pharmacist.
Care program
- Program of 1, 2, 3, or 6 months
- During the program, you will be under the supervision of a physician.
- You will have an online session with your coach medical weight loss at the start and at every decreased month.
- Your medical weight loss coach monitors your progress and makes adjustments as needed.
- You get daily customized recipes in the Vytal nutrition app that take into account your preferences.
- Injections/pills are delivered to your home by our affiliated pharmacy
- Existing clients can order online and get the medication delivered to their homes chilled by our affiliated pharmacist.
Coach Only program
- Start with physician consultation to evaluate medical aspects and causes of your obesity
- During the program, you will be under the supervision of a physician.
- Weekly online session with coach medical weight loss at program start.
- Your medical weight loss coach monitors your progress and makes adjustments as needed.
- You get daily customized recipes in the Vytal nutrition app that take into account your preferences.
- Injections/pills are not part of this program.

Starting the weight loss program
To be eligible to use the weight-loss drug, you begin by making an appointment with a doctor at The Body Clinic. The different medications we are able to prescribe are suited for:
- Adults with a BMI ≥ 27 with at least one weight-related condition, or;
- adults with a BMI ≥ 30.
In 7 steps to your target weight
Here are the steps of medical weight loss in a nutshell.
1. Start with appointment booking
You begin by making an appointment with a doctor at The Body Clinic to determine your eligibility for medical weight loss.
2. Phone call with assistant
You will receive a call from an assistant(s) from The Body Clinic to go over the medication and program. This conversation lasts about 15 minutes.
3. Consultation at the clinic
With the doctor, you will discuss the waste programs and make a choice. The doctor writes a prescription and sends it to our affiliated pharmacist. This consultation takes about 30 minutes.
4. Medication is shipped
The medication is shipped to you by our affiliated pharmacist within 5-7 business days. Also, the pharmacist stores your medication use in the LSP registry.
5. Administering mini-injection
You can administer the injection independently. The injection is minimally invasive and virtually painless. The injection will decrease your sense of hunger and increase your sense of satiety.
6. Online consultation nutrition coach
Depending on your chosen program, you and your nutrition coach will put together an appropriate diet during the online consultation. One session lasts 30 minutes.
7. Target weight
To stay at your target weight a sustained lifestyle change is important, if you fall back then a combination with injections on maintenance dosage is possible.
Indication for use of injections to lose weight
To qualify for medical weight loss with injections, you must meet one of the following indications.
Safety of injections to lose weight
The medications we prescribe have been approved by the FDA, which means they have been found safe and effective following intensive, regulated testing. The Netherlands Healthcare Institute has included a weight loss drug, under strict conditions, in the Drug Reimbursement System for severely overweight patients. Like other medications, the drug can also cause side effects such as nausea and diarrhea. The drug is available in the Netherlands only by prescription.

Can I administer the injections myself?
Yes, you can administer the injections yourself. During the clinic consultation, the doctor will show you how to administer the injection into your thigh, abdomen or upper arm. Next, you will administer the injections yourself with the pen. Our YouTube channel also has videos with lancing instructions.
What result can I expect?
Most people experience weight loss within the first week. The lower limit is a weight loss of 5% of starting weight after 12 weeks.
When can I stop injections?
It is not advised to use the medication for a short period of time. This increases the chances of regaining weight after stopping. Studies show that people can lose weight for 1 to 2 years with the medication. It may also take some time for a new lifestyle to become a new habit. The chances of losing weight permanently are increased by sustained lifestyle changes. That is why The Body Clinic offers this as a total package. If, despite all efforts, you do not manage to maintain your weight without medication, you can continue to follow a program with a maintenance dose for 6 or 12 months. If you have not lost at least 5% of your starting weight after 12 weeks, this may indicate that the medication is not the solution for you and other medication may be more appropriate.

Can I also get the medication alone without the guidance of the doctor and dietician?
The drugs are available only by prescription, so you cannot order this without a doctor’s intervention. We offer weight loss with injections only in a program with at least 1 session with the coach medical weight loss, you will additionally always have the supervision of your treated physician at The Body Clinic during the duration of a program.
Can I also get this medicine through my doctor?
To lose weight with medication, you always need a referral from a physician. So a general practitioner can also prescribe the injections, but losing weight with injections is only truly effective and sustainable when combined with a lifestyle change in terms of diet and exercise. That’s why The Body Clinic offers this total package. Some primary care physicians also refer patients because they do not have sufficient experience in counseling Medical Weight Loss themselves.
Are injections to lose weight reimbursed by health insurance companies?
The medication used in these treatments varies from person to person and situation to situation. There is a possibility that it may be reimbursed by a health insurance company, provided stricter conditions are met.
