Restylane
Restylane, a hyaluronic acid, has been used for over two decades in tens of millions of treatments. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally occuring in the skin. The treatment
Before the Restylane treatment, we will take photographs for your personal file. These are for later reference, e.g. for when you return for your check-up to discuss the results. Please make sure you arrive at our clinic 30 minutes before your appointment is due, so we can apply the anaesthetic Emla cream and give it time to work in. After treatment, you will receive a post-treatment information sheet. At your check-up, we will take further photographs for your file.

Natural result
Because of the effects of natural aging, certain facial features will stick out more. Most people opt for a subtle correction, but not a full-scale transformation. The doctors at The Body Clinic will take your natural facial contours into account, and work under the motto ‘Less is more’.
Before and after the treatment
Please make sure to arrive 30 minutes prior to your Restylane treatment so that we can apply the anaesthetic cream. To prevent bruises from forming, you are advised to stop using all food supplements, vitamins and fish oil pills for five days prior to treatment. Arnica drops help reduce the risk of bruising. You can start taking these drops five days before your Restylane treatment. You are strongly requested not to take consume alcoholic beverages for 48 hours before your procedure. You are also requested not to take any blood-thinning medications such as Aspirin, Naproxen or Ibuprofen, unless with your family doctor’s approval.
We advise you not to use any make-up for the first few hours after your Restylane treatment. You should also be careful to avoid direct sunlight to your skin. This applies to saunas and tanning salons as well. Use a sunblock with an SPF 30 or stronger every day. We urge you not to visit your beautician for the first two weeks following treatment, e.g. for a scrub, peel or laser treatment.
The first couple of days after Restylane treatment you may suffer some swelling, bruising or an overly sensitive skin. These symptoms will fade after a few days.
On average, the Restylane brand hyaluronic filler takes approximately a year to be broken down by the body.

Safety
Restylane is a hyaluronic acid that has been on the market for years and whose safety has been proven over the long term. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally occurring in the human skin. Allergic reactions are therefore highly unlikely: an added advantage of this injectable. Another advantage is that hyaluronic acid can be dissolved in a substance known as Hyason. This fluid removes the Restylane from the skin within days, reversing the Restylane treatment.

Yes, they are. Only physicians are qualified to carry out this procedure. Our physicians at The Body Clinic are BIG registered and a member of the NVCG.
What is the difference between hyaluronic acid and Restylane?
Restylane is a hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is the active ingredient in Restylane. Other fillers based on hyaluronic acid are Juvederm and Teosyal.
Won’t Restylane treatments make me look unnatural?
The physicians at The Body Clinic always take the natural ageing process as a guide for cosmetic correction. We only add volume in places where volume has been lost. This guarantees a beautifully natural result. For our work method, please look under physicians or philosophy. Are you not satisfied with how natural the results are? Then there’s always a possibility to inject hyazon, a substance that will dissolve the filler Restylane within hours.
Will I get lumps from using Restylane filler?
Restylane does not cause granulomas, or lumps. In earlier days permanent fillers were used. Permanent fillers have a different chemical composition which allows them stay in the skin permanently. Sometimes the composition would trigger the body’s natural defence system to resist the injectable. This reaction can cause formation of granulomas, or bumps. Restylane is made from hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid cannot evoke such a reaction because it is a substance that occurs naturally in the body.
Can I go out into the sun after Restylane treatment?
You must avoid the sun for 1 week after being treated with the injectable Restylane.
When can I get back to work after a Restylane treatment?
A Restylane treatment is truly a lunchtime treatment. Aside from a little redness and swelling and sometimes a tiny bruise, Restylane treatment is invisible. In other words – you can go back to work straight away.
Is a Restylane injection procedure painful?
Restylane treatment is generally considered not painful, although individual variation in pain sensation may be expected. The physicians at The Body Clinic often use anaesthetic cream and cold packs to make the treatment more comfortable.
Should my skin be tested?
Restylane consists of a biodegradable substance identical to the body’s own. Restylane does not contain any human or animal substances. There is practically no risk of allergic reaction. So there’s no need for you to take an allergy test prior to the procedure.
When will I start noticing results after a Restylane treatment?
The results are immediately noticeable. However, the effect tends to become a little less pronounced in the days following treatment, because the initial swelling subsides, which has a temporary filling effect.
