It's January 2017, another new year. We all have good intentions. One person quits smoking, another starts (or increases) exercising. Why don't we just eat healthier? Healthy eating ensures a healthy body and beautiful skin. You feel fitter and get more energy. A healthy lifestyle doesn't have to be complicated at all. Below are some simple tips to achieve a healthier eating pattern.
Tip 1: Green up your menu Meat or fish is often the main component of our meal. Turn it around and give vegetables the leading role. Prepare different vegetables, and you'll easily reach that 250 grams per day. A few simple changes can make a big difference.
Tip 2: Go for healthy fats Good fats lower your cholesterol level. How do you get them? For example, eat a handful of unsalted nuts daily, put fatty fish on the menu every week, and eat avocado more often.
Tip 3: Drink wisely An adult needs one and a half to two liters of fluid daily. The best thirst quencher is water, because it contains no calories. Good news: you can give this simple drink a different flavor every time.
Tip 4: Buy consciously, cook yourself & eat mindfully For a healthier eating pattern, buy consciously, prepare your meals yourself, and eat mindfully. Complicated? No, preferably eat at the table, take your time for a meal, chew slowly, read the labels carefully to see exactly what's in it, use a small spoon, etc.
Tip 5: More often a meat-free day Regularly having a meat-free day is good for yourself and the environment. Fortunately, there are many delicious ways to replace meat.
Tip 6: Renew your breakfast & lunch Try something other than a sandwich for breakfast and lunch. It's tasty and smart too: by combining and varying, you easily get more different nutrients.
Tip 7: Watch out for hidden sugar & salt Many products contain more sugar and salt than you think. Even products you wouldn't expect. For example, smoked sausage, pizza margherita, and ready-made pasta bolognese contain a lot of salt.
With these simple tips, you'll go a long way towards a healthy lifestyle!
