How does a Plexr eyelid correction work?
With the use of an ultra-thin needle, a small electric shock will be sent through the skin of the upper or lower eyelids, causing it to heat up and subsequently contract. The effect is two-fold. The surplus skin on the eyelids disappears as a result of the heat, while the deeper layers of skin are bio-stimulated, raising natural collagen levels and thickening the skin. Contrast this with a surgical procedure where surplus skin is removed and your skin actually becomes thinner! In addition, Plexr is much safer than a laser treatment. Whereas laser treatments can inflict damage to the deeper skin layers, this will never happen with a Plexr treatment.

The treatment
It is important that you arrive at our clinic 30 minutes in advance of your appointment to have a numbing cream applied. Make sure your face is free of any make-up or mascara. After the consent form has been signed, the procedure may begin. A Plexr treatment of the upper or lower eyelids will take about 15 minutes. Sometimes it is desirable to treat the brow or crow’s feet as well. This then will slightly prolong procedure time.

Natural result
A Plexr eyelid correction ensures a very natural result. As opposed to surgical eyelid corrections, a Plexr treatment will leave you with zero scars. Where a surgical eyelid correction thins out the skin, because a piece of it is excised, this is not the case with Plexr. With a Plexr-type treatment, the deeper layers of the skin are stimulated, thickening your skin instead of thinning it.

Before a Plexr eyelid correction, it is customary that we schedule a consultation. We only schedule your treatment after consultation. You are strongly advised to arrive 30 minutes prior to treatment, so we can prepare the area around your eyes with a numbing cream (Emla). We kindly ask you, if necessary after consulting your family doctor, to refrain from using blood-thinning medications such as Naproxen, Ibuprofen and Ascal for five days before treatment. Optionally, you can start taking Arnica drops five days before the procedure, for accelerated recovery.
It is critical that you stay completely out of the sun for the first week after your Plexr treatment. Make sure to wear a sunblock around your eyes with a minimum SPF of 30 and to avoid all direct sunlight for the first 6 weeks. We also strongly recommend that you keep treated area dry for the first 48 hours – do not put water on it! Avoid direct contact with the treated area. We urge you most strongly not to pick at the scabs. You are, however, permitted the use of make-up to the treated area, but only after the scabs have fallen off. After the treatment, you will be handed an extensive protocol. For the best results, after-care should be taken seriously.
Scabs will appear at the treated area during the first week. Once these have fallen off, you may still suffer from redness to the skin for several weeks. If you wish, you can camouflage this redness. It sometimes happens that this redness remains for a longer period of time. Eventually, the redness will fade.
In some cases, a second Plexr treatment is required for optimal results. Plexr results are permanent until natural aging reintroduces skin slackness.
Free intake
Before your eyelids may be treated, you’ll need to make an intake appointment with one of our doctors, to verify if you qualify for this type of treatment. During this intake, one of our doctors will map out your health and discuss possible alternatives with you. We will also take photographs of the treatment area. We will discuss pre- and post-treatment regimes with you and any side effects or risks that might come with the treatment.
Safety
A Plexr eyelid correction is extremely safe. As opposed to laser treatment, proper use of the Plexr equipment will ensure that no damage is inflicted to the dermis, bypassing any unpleasant complications such as hypopigmentation. The doctors of The Body Clinic have deliberately waited with purchasing the Plexr device for a number of years, to ensure the safety of the technique. Plexr treatments have now been carried out in the Netherlands for three years and many tens of thousands of clients have since have successful Plexr treatments.

How does Plexr work?
PlexR works on the basis of plasma created as a result of ionizing gas molecules. As soon as the energy bundle hits the skin, it generates a pointwise arc of charged plasma. This causes the skin fibers to contract, which has a lifting effect. PlexR works on the deeper skin layers, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin fibers.
Who qualifies for a PlexR eyelid correction?
Nearly everybody with surplus skin on the upper or lower eyelids qualifies for this treatment. Only when there is also a surplus of fat, the results of this procedure can suffer. During a free intake appointment, you will discuss your options with one of our doctors. All skin types may be treated with PlexR, but sometimes a pre-treatment may be necessary.
In which areas can PlexR be utilized?
PlexR is not only suited for tightening the skin around the eyes, but can also be effectively used to combat wrinkles in the areas around the cheeks, neck and mouth.
How long will the effects of a PlexR treatment subsist?
The results of a PlexR treatment are permanent, although the process of aging will of course continue and eventually slacken the skin once again. You can slow this process by optimising certain lifestyle factors. The following factors speed up the aging process: smoking, sunlight and bad skincare. Sometimes a second PlexR treatment is necessary to achieve an optimal result.
What are the side effects and risks that come with a PlexR treatment?
Among other things, these are the side effects you will experience in the first few weeks: swelling (1-3 days), skin redness (2-4 weeks) and scab formation (7 days) in the treated area. Stay out of the sun during the first few weeks after your PlexR treatment. You will receive a follow-up protocol to take home, which you should follow to the letter. As PlexR stays within the superficial skin layers, no permanent damage can be done to the skin itself, as is the case with other laser treatments.
Are there any contraindications? Can I have PlexR treatment?
As with most cosmetic procedures, the minimum age of treatment in the Netherlands is 18 years. Also, we do not treat pregnant or nursing women. Some darker skin types are not suitable for a PlexR treatment.
What are the advantages of a PlexR treatment over surgery (eyelid correction)?
PlexR is cheaper than a surgical intervention, and leaves you with zero scars. Moreover, a PlexR treatment will increase the firmness of your skin, whilst a surgical eyelid correction actually thins out the skin.
