A few weeks ago, we had Stijn from BNN Spuiten en Slikken visit us for the program 'Mooi, Man'. In this documentary series, Stijn de Vries investigates the male beauty ideal and his own insecurities in this area. He has felt insecure about his jawline for a long time and visited The Body Clinic for a treatment with jawline fillers. To his great shock, this treatment with fillers could not proceed.
Increasingly more cosmetic procedures for men
Since 1997, the number of cosmetic procedures among men has risen by 325%. However, it appears that insecurities among men are not often discussed, and there still seems to be a significant taboo surrounding cosmetic procedures for men. In this four-part documentary series, Stijn investigates the origin of the new male beauty ideal and whether giving in to it makes you happier. He talks to men who deal with insecurities in their own way and addresses his own insecurities. He visited The Body Clinic for a jawline filler treatment. Together with our doctor Nicoline Nijman, Stijn discusses his wishes, and Nicoline explains what a filler is and what it can do.
Bsure DNA Test
Two weeks before the jaw filler treatment, Stijn visited us to undergo the Bsure DNA Test. He wanted to do everything possible to ensure the safest treatment. A filler treatment is a safe, non-surgical cosmetic procedure. Nevertheless, things can sometimes go wrong, even if the treatment is performed correctly and professionally. You might have a genetic predisposition that causes your immune system to react extremely to fillers. Stijn decided to have DNA taken from his buccal mucosa before his treatment. On the day Stijn was scheduled to undergo his jawline filler treatment, doctor Nicoline informed him of the results. To his great surprise, it turned out that Stijn has an increased chance of a filler rejection reaction, which is why the doctor strongly advised against the treatment. Stijn was extremely happy that he had this DNA test done and that he was spared the increased risk of serious complications!

Nicoline has been working in cosmetic medicine since 2015 and has performed over 30,000 Botox and filler treatments in recent years. Nicoline is registered with the Profile Register Cosmetic Medicine as a Cosmetic Doctor KNMG and is a member of the Dutch Association for Cosmetic Medicine (NVCG). In addition, she was an educator for a long time and, in that capacity, trained various cosmetic doctors and provided training sessions. To stay informed of the latest techniques and products, Nicoline regularly attends conferences at home and abroad. **Honesty and naturalness – that is my starting point** "For me, cosmetic medicine revolves around one thing: a beautiful, natural result where you recognize yourself, but look just a little fresher and more rested. I work carefully and safely, listen carefully to what you want and what you don't want, and give honest advice – even if something turns out not to be necessary. Not every wrinkle needs to be treated. Not every area needs extra volume. My role is to advise what *does* work and what is better left undone. Because 'less is more' is not just a nice saying – it is the core of my working method. Through my many years of experience, both as a practitioner and as an educator, I know exactly how to make subtle improvements that suit your natural face. It's not about nobody seeing that you've had a treatment – it's about everyone seeing how good you look," says Nicoline. **Experience & specializations** - Cosmetic Doctor KNMG since 2015 - 30,000+ Botox and filler treatments - Former educator of cosmetic doctors - Registered in the Profile Register Cosmetic Medicine - Member of the Dutch Association for Cosmetic Medicine (NVCG) - Internationally trained and up-to-date with the latest techniques
