Video about fungal nail removal

We treat fungal infections effectively with a medical laser, so you can quickly enjoy healthy nails again.

What is a fungal nail treatment?
With a fungal nail treatment, we target and effectively address fungal infections of the nail using a medical laser. This heats the fungal cells in the nail without damaging the surrounding skin and without the need for medication.
Results of laser treatment for fungal nails vary per person. Multiple treatments are usually necessary.

How does the medical laser work?
For this fungal nail treatment, we use a medical laser that emits targeted light pulses. These penetrate the nail and nail bed, where heat (45-50°C) destroys fungal cells without damaging healthy tissue. The treatment is medication-free and stimulates the growth of a healthy nail that grows into a smooth, strong, and fungus-free nail.

Benefits of laser treatment for fungal nails
The laser offers a medication-free solution that tackles the fungus at its source and ensures a long-lasting result.
- Targeted and safe laser treatment
- No medication or recovery time needed
- Effective for stubborn fungal infections
- Stimulates healthy and strong nail growth

A fungal nail treatment is particularly suitable for nail problems indicating a fungal infection. The characteristics below are typical skin indications for this treatment:
Fungi cause excessive production of keratin under the nail plate. This makes the nail progressively thicker and harder. This thickening makes the nail difficult to trim and can lead to pressure and pain, especially in shoes. This is a typical characteristic of advanced fungal infections.
In a fungal infection, fungi penetrate the nail plate and cause discoloration. The nail turns yellow, brown, white, or sometimes greenish due to fungal growth and the accumulation of keratinous material under the nail. This discoloration usually starts at the edge or tip of the nail and gradually spreads towards the nail root.
The fungus breaks down the structure of the nail, causing it to lose its firmness. The nail becomes porous and brittle, with pieces easily breaking off or crumbling. A dry, powdery material often forms under the nail. This crumbling indicates severe damage to the nail structure by the fungus.
The fungal infection disrupts normal nail growth. As a result, the nail grows irregularly, becomes deformed, or growth almost stops completely. A healthy nail grows about 3 mm per month, but with a fungal infection, this process can be severely delayed or disrupted.
Fungal nails are often persistent because fungi are deep within the nail plate, where creams find it difficult to penetrate. Oral medication also doesn't always work, especially with severe or long-term infections. If regular treatments fail, this may indicate a resistant fungal strain or very deep infection, making intensive laser treatment such as a fungal nail treatment necessary.

The treatment may be experienced as slightly sensitive. The nails become warm during the procedure, which can cause a startled reaction. On a scale of 0-10, the pain is generally rated as a 7. You will feel a warm, tingling sensation. The nails remain warm for several hours after the treatment. Most people find the treatment well-tolerated.
Improvement is visible after a few weeks, but complete regrowth takes several months. Because nails generally grow very slowly, the full result of the treatment is often only visible after several months. You will notice that the nail slowly grows out without discoloration or thickening.
Nail fungus infections can return after treatment if not all fungi have been eradicated or if aftercare is not properly followed. The risk of reinfection significantly decreases with good hygiene and aftercare. It is essential to continue treatment until the nail looks completely clean and healthy. Use antifungal cream, keep your feet dry, and avoid walking barefoot in public areas.
A nail fungus (onychomycosis) is caused by a fungal infection (dermatophytes) that affects the nail. These fungi thrive in warm, moist environments such as shoes and socks. Risk factors include excessive sweating, walking barefoot in public areas like swimming pools, damaged nails, and a weakened immune system.
The laser emits concentrated light energy that penetrates deep into the nail and destroys the fungus. The heat builds up to about 45–50°C, just enough to kill the fungal cells. This way, the fungal tissue is targeted without causing damage to the surrounding tissue. The laser tackles the infection at its source.
It is important to prevent a new nail infection after treatment:
- Apply antifungal cream to the feet (twice a day)
- Spray antifungal powder into shoes (once a week)
- Keep feet as dry as possible
- Do not walk barefoot in public areas
- Wash socks and bedding at 60 degrees Celsius
- Regularly boil nail scissors and clippers
- Follow your skin therapist's aftercare instructions carefully
After the treatment, the nails may feel warm and/or tingly. The area under the nail plate may temporarily discolour. This discolouration usually disappears after a few weeks. In rare cases, slight redness or irritation around the nail bed may occur. Side effects are mild and short-lived, especially if you follow the aftercare instructions carefully.
Depending on the severity of the nail fungus, an average of 3 to 5 treatments are usually required. The frequency of treatments is once every 4 weeks. For stubborn infections, more sessions may be needed for a completely fungus-free result.
Yes, laser treatments for nail fungus are safe and effective. We work exclusively with CE-certified medical lasers. Achieving optimal results depends on a combination of proper preparation, multiple sessions, and good aftercare. The treatment is fast and requires no recovery time.
