Video about coagulation

With coagulation, we accurately remove milia, fibromas, cherry angiomas, and raised spots using heat. Fast, safe, and often a smooth, even skin within a few days.

What does coagulation involve?
Coagulation is a skin treatment where small raised spots are precisely removed using heat. With a fine needle, short electrical pulses are delivered, locally heating the tissue. This forms a scab that detaches naturally after a few days. The treatment is very precise and does not damage the surrounding skin.

Not all skin lesions can be removed with coagulation.

Benefits of coagulation
Coagulation is fast, with minimal risk of scars, and results in a smooth, even skin texture.

Fibromas are benign skin growths that often occur in areas where the skin moves a lot or friction occurs, such as the neck, armpits, and groin. They can vary in size and are usually harmless but are often considered cosmetically bothersome. Coagulation can be used to precisely and controllably remove fibromas.
Milia are small, white bumps that occur when keratin gets trapped under the skin. They are common around the eyes, on the cheeks, and sometimes on the forehead. Since milia do not disappear on their own, coagulation can be used to safely remove these skin lesions.
Seborrheic keratoses are benign, often slightly raised skin lesions that primarily appear in later life. They can vary in color and texture and occur, among other places, on the trunk, face, and hands. Coagulation offers an effective method to cosmetically treat these spots.
Cherry angiomas are small, red to purple-colored skin lesions caused by local vascular dilatations. They often appear on the trunk and increase in number with age. Coagulation can accurately treat these spots without damaging the surrounding skin.
This category includes various small, benign skin lesions that protrude above the skin surface. While they usually do not cause medical complaints, they can be cosmetically bothersome. Coagulation makes it possible to targetedly remove these skin lesions.
Spider veins are small, superficial vessels visible in the skin, often appearing on the face or body. They can result from genetic predisposition, skin aging, or sun exposure. Coagulation is an effective treatment to reduce these vascular dilatations.

Milia can be professionally removed by a skin therapist using coagulation. This involves short electrical pulses that locally heat the tissue. This causes the tissue to coagulate and the spot to dry out, after which it disappears naturally. This treatment is very precise, prevents damage to the surrounding skin, and minimizes the risk of scarring.
Self-removal of milia is not recommended, especially not in the delicate skin around the eyes. Incorrect removal can lead to infections, scarring, or skin damage. It is best to have this done by a professional at The Body Clinic.
Recovery after coagulation is usually fast. Most people can resume their daily activities immediately. The skin fully heals within one to two weeks, depending on the size and location of the treated area.
When correctly applied and with proper aftercare, the chance of scarring is very small. It is important not to scratch or pick at the scab during the recovery process. Follow your skin therapist's aftercare instructions to minimize the risk of scarring.
Coagulation is primarily suitable for benign raised skin lesions such as fibromas, milia, and seborrheic keratoses. For moles, we recommend scheduling a consultation first, so that the skin therapist can assess whether coagulation is suitable or if an alternative treatment is more appropriate.
