Confusion about 'lips' is a frequently discussed topic in our clinic.

We receive many inquiries from people stating they want to treat their lips with Botox. They speak of 'Botox lips'. What they mean by this is a lip augmentation. However, injecting Botox into the lips is not the suitable way to achieve lip augmentation.

Botox in the Lips?

Botox and fillers are both the most commonly used products in a cosmetic clinic. A Botox treatment is sometimes confused with a filler treatment. The treatments have completely different effects and are entirely different products. Before planning to undergo a treatment, it is essential that you get well-informed by a cosmetic doctor. You can discuss your wishes with the doctor, who will advise you on which treatment is suitable for you and which is not. Botox in the lips, for example, is a treatment that the doctor will advise against.

What is Botox?

Did you know that Botox is a protein and that this protein occurs naturally? Botox, also known as Botulinum Toxin, can relax muscles. By injecting a muscle in the face with Botox, this muscle will relax, and you will no longer be able to fully contract it. Areas regularly treated with Botox include frown lines (frons), the forehead (voorhoofd), and crow's feet (kraaienpootjes). Because Botox relaxes the muscle, wrinkles caused by tension can slowly fade away. Therefore, injecting Botox into the lips will not fully contract the muscles in the lips. The result of a Botox treatment in the lips is thus not lip augmentation as desired. Botox is not the suitable product when it comes to lip augmentation. A treatment with fillers is the correct treatment when it comes to lip augmentation.

Lip Augmentation

Lip augmentation is a very common treatment in the cosmetic world. Not everyone is born with full lips. A treatment with hyaluronic acid-based fillers is the solution if you want to enlarge your lips and add more contour.

Hyaluronic Acid

Fillers are almost always based on hyaluronic acid. This is a substance that naturally occurs in our body, and its amount decreases as we age. With fillers, you can plump something up, while with Botox, you temporarily relax a muscle. Fillers are often used for areas such as the cheekbones, lips, nasolabial folds, or earlobes, for example. Of course, you can also fill wrinkles with fillers.

The Body Clinic Products

At The Body Clinic, we only work with A-brand fillers such as Restylane, Saypha, or Teosyal. These products are very safe. It's good to know that all these fillers are temporary and disappear after approximately twelve months; the exact speed depends on the individual. These fillers are, if you are not satisfied, dissolvable. Permanent fillers are no longer current and are also prohibited in the Netherlands.

Free Lip Augmentation Consultation

If you are looking for lip augmentation, Botox is clearly not the right treatment; fillers are the suitable product for this. We advise you to always be well-informed before undergoing a cosmetic treatment. If you are interested in lip augmentation, you can contact us for a free consultation.
