Everyone frowns, some more intensely than others.

Over time, a frown line can become permanently etched into the skin. Frequent frowning creates a persistent line between the eyebrows. This can result in an angry or stern appearance. The frown line occurs in both men and women and can develop at a young or later age.

What is a frown line?

When you frown, you contract the muscles between your eyebrows. Not everyone develops a frown line. This entirely depends on how intensely and how often someone frowns, and also relates to heredity.

How does a frown line develop?

Frown lines develop from looking at small screens, like your phone, or squinting against the sun. Due to the frequent contraction of the muscles between your eyebrows, these wrinkles can remain in the skin even at rest. This can result in a permanently angry and/or stern appearance, which is certainly not what you want. You often get asked if you're angry or grumpy, even when you don't feel that way at all. By treating this frown line with Botox (Azzalure), the skin between your eyebrows no longer creases, resulting in a more relaxed look.

Other consequences of frowning

In addition to an angry and/or stern appearance, frowning can also cause headaches or migraines. Due to the muscle tension between your eyebrows, you may experience an uncomfortable pain in your forehead. This is a very unpleasant side effect of frowning with no underlying medical cause. If your frown results in a persistent wrinkle at rest and/or headaches, a Botox treatment can be an effective solution.

Filling a frown line

In some cases, the frown line remains deeply etched in the skin even when you're not frowning. A Botox treatment will then ensure that the wrinkle doesn't worsen. However, you also want to get rid of the wrinkle that's already present in the skin. In such cases, a Botox treatment combined with a hyaluronic acid filler treatment is the right solution for you. This way, you address both problems simultaneously. A filler can effectively fill a specific area. In this instance, the frown line is filled.

Free frown line consultation

Undergoing Botox treatment at a cosmetic clinic is a significant step for many people. It's always advisable, therefore, to first come in for a free consultation prior to the treatment. The doctor will discuss the possibilities with you and, of course, explain what Botox is and whether it's the right treatment for you. Sometimes, a frown line is already so deep that Botox treatment alone isn't sufficient. Whether a filler treatment is also needed will be discussed with you during the consultation. The doctor will then create a treatment plan for you to soften the frown line as optimally as possible.
