Don't just get treated with fillers in a beauty salon!
The health inspectorate reported today, Tuesday, August 9, 2022, that certain procedures in beauty salons must be performed by a doctor. This concerns the use of the mesogun and hyaluron pen, devices for filling wrinkles and/or lips. Previously, a mesogun treatment by a beautician came under fire in a Radar broadcast. The health inspectorate's statement shows that client safety is paramount and only a competent person may perform a filler treatment.
The ANP reports:
"Health institute RIVM has examined the operation of these devices. Based on the research results, the inspectorate considers treatments with a mesogun or a hyaluron pen, as well as other devices with similar technology, to be an injection. According to existing legislation, this means it is a "reserved procedure," which implies it may only be performed by a doctor, as is also the case with fillers and botox.
The law lists procedures that may only be performed by registered healthcare providers. Devices are not mentioned. "The first types of hyaluron pen and mesogun injected the fluid superficially. But in the meantime, there are also devices of this kind that penetrate deeper into the skin. This led to discussion in the field about the use of these devices," the inspectorate explains. The organization is now explicitly expressing its views on these treatment methods for the first time."
