At The Body Clinic, we are focused on looking beautiful and natural.

Cosmetic treatments can make a wonderful contribution to this, but lifestyle factors such as: exercise, smoking, alcohol, nutrition, and relaxation are also important in preventing wrinkles and maintaining healthy, radiant skin.

Smoothie Bowl

A beautiful example of healthy nutrition with the best ingredients for radiant skin is the smoothie bowl. We have detailed the perfect recipe for you below.

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 50 grams of spinach
  • 100 grams of raspberries
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
  • 20 grams of walnuts
  • 30 grams of muesli or granola
  • (Optionally extra banana)

Preparation:

  1. Blend the banana, avocado, and spinach with a small amount of water in the blender.
  2. Don't throw everything into the blender at once, but add ingredients little by little until you have the right texture.
  3. Pour the smoothie into a bowl and place the raspberries on top.
  4. Decorate the bowl with chia seeds, walnuts, granola of your choice, and optionally extra banana slices.

Tips

  1. Eat the smoothie with a spoon. When you eat the smoothie bowl with a spoon, you chew the food more. The digestion process then begins in the mouth, which makes the food easier to digest in the body.
  2. Do not add the smoothie as an extra meal to your diet, but try to replace a part or whole meal with it.
  3. It is often thought that smoothies are a good alternative to eating fruit. Unfortunately, that is not entirely true. When fruit is blended, its fibers are lost, removing many of the healthy properties of fruit. This leaves a sugary drink. Therefore, it is much better to eat fruit than to drink it.

What this bowl does for your health and skin

  • Bananas contain a lot of potassium. This mineral ensures that your skin's moisture balance is maintained. Especially for dry skin, eating a banana occasionally is a good idea!
  • Avocados contain vitamins B6, C, and K. Vitamin A helps purify your skin and stimulates the production of new skin cells. This way, vitamin A counteracts the aging process. Vitamin E protects your skin from harmful external influences and, like vitamin A, stimulates the production of new skin cells.
  • Spinach, like red and blue berries, is packed with antioxidants that combat wrinkles and keep your skin young. It also contains vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta-carotene. All of these protect your skin from the sun's harmful radiation.
  • Red and blue berries such as raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries have a liver-supporting effect, contain vitamin C, and are rich in antioxidants. These antioxidants protect the skin from harmful influences both internally and externally. They combat skin aging by preventing collagen breakdown. They also ensure good blood circulation, which ensures that oxygen and nutrients reach the right places and waste products are removed.
  • Nuts are also packed with vitamins, minerals, good fats, and fibers. For example, vitamin E provides your skin's elasticity. The fibers help eliminate waste products from your body. Nuts are specifically good for liver cells. A liver cell partly consists of fatty acids. The fatty acids from nuts restore liver cells, allowing waste products to be better eliminated. Result: more beautiful skin!
  • Chia seeds contain a high dose of omega 3. This fatty acid has a very beneficial effect on dry, rough, and/or sensitive skin. Omega 3 ensures that the skin is nourished from within.

General Nutritional Advice

The general advice for healthy eating is to consume sufficient vegetables (at least 250 grams) and fruit (2 pieces) daily, and to add a lot of variety to your diet. Eat little saturated fat and sugars, and be careful with salt (sodium) intake.

Fruit and vegetables contain many antioxidants. Antioxidants is a collective term for substances like vitamins E and C. Antioxidants ensure that substances in our body that can cause damage to cells and tissues are cleared away. In the long term, antioxidants reduce your risk of diseases like cancer and cardiovascular diseases. A healthy diet is not only good for the outside, but your entire body also benefits optimally from it.
