Agnes ter Veen studied Medicine at the University of Groningen. As a doctor, she built a broad background in elderly care medicine, addiction care and psychiatry. In these fields, she sees every day how physical health, behaviour and mental wellbeing constantly influence one another. She brings this broad perspective to her work as a medical weight loss doctor.
Excess weight rarely stands on its own
In her work, Agnes sees that excess weight is often linked to several factors and is rarely an isolated problem. It not only brings long-term health risks, but also affects your energy, mobility, physical complaints and mental wellbeing in the short term. What appeals to her about medical weight loss is the growing attention for these underlying processes. New insights and treatment options make more targeted treatment possible, especially when previous attempts have not been effective enough. Medication can be a valuable addition, as part of a broader approach.
Looking beyond the weight
In her guidance, Agnes looks beyond the number on the scale. She believes it is important to understand what is going on for you and to work together on changes that fit your daily life: achievable and sustainable. Her goal is for you not only to feel physically healthier, but also to experience more energy, confidence and control in your daily life.
