Laser therapy against tattoos and PMU
When a tattoo no longer quite suits your needs or when it is no longer beautiful due to skin aging, you can opt for laser therapy. This is a treatment for removing unwanted tattoos and permanent makeup (PMU). Through a laser that breaks down the pigment under the skin. Larger areas of pigment are broken up by the laser. Q-Switch laser to remove tattoos and PMU
The skin therapist uses a Q-switch laser with nano second for dark color ink. So that makes this laser usable for both regular tattoos and PMU. The colors green, yellow and light blue cannot be treated. It may be the case with PMU that a light yellow haze remains, as this color cannot be treated with the laser. PMU consists of different colors of ink so the tattoo will have different colors at first. The radiation from the laser heats the ink particles in a short pulse duration. This breaks down the ink into smaller particles that can be cleared by the body. Slowly, you will see the tattoo/PMU fade away. Because the laser heats the skin, we use a Zimmer cooling system. This system blows cool air onto the skin, making the treatment tolerable.
The laser treatment
Before you can be treated, you will first have a consultation with our skin therapist. Here the skin therapist explains the treatment, the price is agreed upon and the before and after care is discussed. When you are in the clinic for the treatment, the skin is disinfected and then our skin therapist can start with the laser. The Zimmer cooling system ensures that the treatment is well tolerated. After the treatment, the skin is cooled and covered with a gauze. This must remain on it for 24 hours.

What to do before and after pigmentation laser therapy
To get the optimal result and avoid complications, there are some guidelines to follow. For starters, do not use blood-thinning medication in the 48 hours before treatment. Think of ibuprofen or aspirin, for example. In addition, avoid caffeinated beverages in the 24 hours before treatment. This is because caffeine has a blood-thinning effect. It is also important to avoid tanning or self-tanning for at least one week before the treatment. Also, do not use foundation before the treatment and make sure to protect the skin daily with SPF 50. Last but not least, if you are seeing a dermatologist, it is important to discuss whether this treatment is suitable for your skin.
To enjoy beautiful results for as long as possible, it is important to follow the prescribed aftercare instructions. This will allow the skin to recover best. Leave the mesh in place for 24 hours and do not get it wet, avoid sweating, swimming and heat from sauna and jacuzzi for 7 days. Minimize rubbing along the skin and also protect with SPF 50 daily after treatment.
Immediately after the treatment, you will notice that the skin may become somewhat red and slightly swollen. This lasts about 3 days. During and after, the skin may be sensitive, especially to touch or showering. The breakdown of particles takes about 8 weeks. So during recovery, the tattoo will visibly diminish.

The answer to this is simply: yes. Not all ink colors can be treated with the laser, but the vast majority can. The colors that we can treat can be completely removed from the skin.

How painful is a tattoo laser?
