Video about filling acne scars

Acne scars can make your skin uneven and remain visible long after the acne has disappeared. With hyaluronic acid fillers, we can fill and hydrate these scars, making your skin smoother and more elastic.

What does the acne scar filling treatment entail?
When filling acne scars, we fill dimples, indentations, and scars with hyaluronic acid. This works because hyaluronic acid attracts and retains water, giving sunken areas more volume and simultaneously hydrating the skin. This makes your skin feel smoother and appear more even and elastic.

Combine with microneedling, laser therapy, or peeling for optimal results.

How do acne scars form?
Acne scars are caused by inflammation in the skin, even if you haven't picked at your acne. The likelihood of scars is influenced by several factors:
- Inflammatory reactions in the skin damage deeper tissue
- The more severe the acne, the greater the chance of permanent scars
- Even mild acne can cause scars in some cases
- The predisposition to form scars varies per person

Benefits of filling acne scars with hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is very suitable for filling acne scars because it works specifically and supports the skin in recovery and quality, without altering its natural appearance. This treatment offers, among other things, the following benefits:
- Targeted filling of only the scar
- Support for collagen production
- Safely dissolvable if desired

That's definitely true! Acne is unpleasant enough on its own, but usually, years later, you're still dealing with the consequences. Even if you managed to resist picking at your face, inflammation can still lead to scars. Generally, the more severe the acne, the greater the consequences. However, sometimes even a mild form of acne can cause scars. How susceptible you are to scarring varies per person. View the experiences page for all experiences of clients who have been treated for their acne scars.
The price of a filler treatment for acne scars is €500 per treatment. For a good result, we recommend two treatments with an interval of two to four weeks.
The term scars covers a large group of skin disturbances. For example, there is hyperpigmentation (red and/or dark spots) which makes it seem like you have a skin disease, and there are two different types of acne scars: scars with tissue increase and scars with tissue loss. Especially the latter can be perfectly treated with hyaluronic acid fillers. This is because hyaluronic acid has the main characteristic of retaining water. And not just a little water, but up to a thousand times its own volume. In this way, it not only contributes to the flexibility of joints but also to the resilience and suppleness of your skin.
That's correct, and they are very effective for that. However, hyaluronic acid can also be used successfully to treat acne scars. Various techniques exist for such a treatment, ranging from silicone gel to a chemical peel. And fillers are indeed also one of the options.
That's not so easy to say. It depends on the size and depth of the scars, but also on your budget and schedule. An intensive scar treatment sometimes requires a 'downtime' of about seven days.
By placing a hyaluronic acid filler into the scars, pits, dents, and other irregularities are filled. At the same time, the skin is hydrated. This is a relatively unknown method, but the result is optimal. Although the risks are minimal, you should still – as with any other filler treatment – expect bruising or a sore feeling. Sometimes the skin swells, and an (additional) swelling may occur one to two days after the treatment. However, the result is clearly visible after an average of 7 days.
Acne scars are permanent and do not disappear on their own. They form when inflammation damages collagen and elastin. Too little collagen production leads to indented scars, while too much leads to raised scars or keloids. Although permanent, scars can be improved with treatments such as fillers, microneedling, laser, and chemical peels. Do not confuse scars with red or brown spots (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) that disappear within 6-12 months, or active pimples that do not leave scars. Especially deeper scars can be effectively treated with fillers.
A filler treatment for acne scars can be slightly uncomfortable but is generally well-tolerated. The degree of pain depends on various factors, such as your personal pain sensitivity, the depth and number of scars being treated, and your skin's sensitivity. To make the treatment as comfortable as possible, we apply a numbing cream before the treatment begins. This cream takes effect after approximately 20-30 minutes and significantly reduces pain. Most people experience the treatment as a slight stinging or pressure sensation.
A filler treatment for acne scars is temporary and needs to be repeated over time. On average, the results last approximately up to 12 months, but this can vary per person. Different factors determine how long the effect lasts. The type of filler used plays a role, with some brands or variants lasting longer than others. Your metabolism is also important: people with a fast metabolism break down fillers more quickly. Furthermore, the depth of the scars and the amount of movement in the treated area matter. Scars in areas with a lot of facial expressions, such as around the mouth, can break down faster than in less mobile areas.
