Why get a Juvederm treatment?
Juvederm is extremely suitable for lip treatment. The lips retain their natural shape due to Juvederm’s soft composition, but now they seem fuller. Other areas suitable for treatment with Juvederm are: lines in the forehead, frowns, crow’s feet, cheeks, cheekbones, temples, nasolabial folds, corner of the mouth folds, chin, jaw lines, perioral wrinkles and wrinkles around the eyes.

The treatment
You should be present at our clinic thirty minutes before your Juvederm procedure begins. After your health has been mapped out, pictures have been taken and you have given your doctor written consent, a numbing cream will be applied to the lips. The treatment itself will only take a 15 minutes. . After your doctor has massaged the treated area, you will be able to cool the area, if you wish.

Natural result

Before and after the treatment
We kindly ask you to arrive half an hour in advance of your Juvederm treatment so we can apply an anaesthetic cream. To prevent the possibility of bruising, we suggest that you do not consume any alcohol for two days prior to your treatment. Please refrain from taking Aspirin, Naproxen or Ibuprofen as they are blood-thinning medications. (Panadol is an option, however.) You may have to consult your family doctor on this matter if you take these painkillers on a regular basis. You are permitted the use of Arnica drops from five days prior to treatment. Arnica drops are available at your local pharmacy or from our clinic.
Do not make use of tanning beds or saunas for a full week after your Juvederm treatment. Stay away from direct sunlight. Do not undergo any peel, laser or scrub or any other beauty treatments to the treated area for two weeks following treatment. Two weeks after your Juvederm treatment, we will be pleased to welcome you back for your check-up.
You might suffer from some swelling and/or bruising in the area treated with Juvederm. You are allowed to cool this swelling directly after treatment – our doctors will offer you an ice pack. You are also allowed to cosmetically camouflage your bruising.
The body breaks down the hyaluronic acid contained in the Juvederm fillers within approximately 12 months.
Free intake
Prior to your Juvederm treatment, you will have an intake appointment. This allows our doctor to assess whether you qualify for a Juvederm treatment. During the intake, we map out your health and take pictures of the treatment area. We will also discuss the treatment protocol, accompanying risks and possible alternatives with you. Finally, you and your doctor will make an informed decision.
Safety
Juvederm have long been commercially available and tens of millions of procedures have been carried out with them without any significant complications. A impressive advantage of hyaluronic acid-based fillers as opposed to other temporary fillers is the fact that hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the skin. This makes the risks of an allergic reaction or bodily rejection negligible. Juverderm can also be actively dissolved with Hyason, a solvent. In this way, small irregularities, any asymmetry or a surplus of volume can be easily remedied.

Are all Juvederm treatments at The Body Clinic carried out by a qualified physician?
Yes, they are. Only physicians are qualified to carry out this procedure. Our physicians at The Body Clinic are a member of the NVCG and BIG registered.
What is the difference between hyaluronic acid and Juvederm?
Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is the active ingredient in Juvederm. Other fillers based on hyaluronic acid are Teosyal, Princess and Restylane.
Won’t Juvederm treatments make me look unnatural?
The physicians at The Body Clinic always take the natural ageing process as a guide for cosmetic correction. We only add volume in places where volume has been lost. If you believe that the results are not natural, it is possible to inject hyazon, which dissolves Juvederm within several hours.
Will I get lumps from using Juvederm filler?
Juvederm does not cause granulomas, or lumps. In earlier days permanent fillers were used. Permanent fillers have a different chemical composition which allows them stay in the skin permanently. Sometimes the composition would trigger the body’s natural defence system to resist the injectable. This reaction can cause the formation of granulomas, or bumps. Juvederm, being composed of hyaluronic acid, cannot evoke such a reaction because it is a substance that occurs naturally in the body.
Can I go out into the sun after Juvederm treatment?
You must avoid the sun for 1 week after being treated with the injectable Juvederm.
When can I get back to work after a Juvederm treatment?
A Juvederm treatment is truly a lunchtime treatment. Aside from a Little redness and swelling and sometimes a tiny bruise, Juvederm treatment is invisible. In other words – you can go back to work straight away.
Is treatment with Juvederm painful?
Juvederm treatment is generally considered not painful, although individual variation in pain sensation may be expected. The physicians at The Body Clinic often use anaesthetic cream and cold packs to make the treatment more comfortable.
Should my skin be tested?
Juvederm consists of a biodegradable substance identical to the body’s own. Juvederm does not contain any human or animal substances, and there are virtually no allergy risks. So there is no need for you to take an allergy test prior to the procedure.
When will I start noticing results after a Juvederm treatment?
The results are immediately noticeable. However, the effect tends to become a little less pronounced in the days following treatment, because the initial swelling, which has a filling effect, subsides.
