Smoothie bowl

A great example of healthy food with the best ingredients for glowing skin is the smoothie bowl. We’ve detailed the perfect recipe for you below.

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 50 grams of spinach
  • 100 grams of raspberry
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
  • 20 grams of walnuts
  • 30 grams of granola or muesli
  • (Additional banana if necessary)

Preparation:

  1. Blend the banana, avocado and spinach with a small amount of water in the blender.
  2. Don’t throw everything into the blender at once, but add ingredients little by little until you get the right texture.
  3. Pour the smoothie into a bowl and top with the raspberries.
  4. Decorate the bowl with the chia seeds, walnuts, granola of your choice and any additional pieces of banana.

Tips

  1. Eat the smoothie with a spoon. If you eat the smoothie bowl with a spoon, you have to chew the food more. The digestive process then begins already in the mouth, making food easier to digest in the body.
  2. Do not add the smoothie as an additional meal to your diet, but try to replace part or all of a meal with it.
  3. Smoothies are often thought to be a good alternative to eating fruit. Unfortunately, this is not entirely true. When fruit is ground up, the fiber is lost, taking away many of the healthy properties of fruit. This leaves a sugar drink. So fruit is much better to eat than drink.

What does this bowl do for your health and skin

  • Bananas contain a lot of potassium. This mineral keeps your skin’s moisture balanced. So especially with dry skin, eating banana once in a while is a good idea!
  • Avocados contain vitamins B6, C and K. Vitamin A helps purify your skin and stimulates the production of new skin cells. With this, vitamin A counteracts the aging process. Vitamin E protects your skin from harmful external influences and, like vitamin A, stimulates the production of new skin cells.
  • Spinach, like red and blue forest fruits, is full of antioxidants that fight wrinkles and keep your skin young. It also contains vitamin C, vitamin E and beta carotene. This all protects your skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
  • Red and blue forest fruits such as raspberries, blackberries and blueberries have liver support effects, contain vitamin C and are very high in antioxidants. These antioxidants protect the skin from bad influences from both inside and outside. They counteract skin aging by stopping the breakdown of collagen. It also provides good blood flow, This ensures that oxygen and nutrients get to the right place and waste products are removed.
  • Nuts are also packed with vitamins, minerals, good fats and fiber. For example, vitamin E provides elasticity to your skin. The fiber helps drain waste products from your body. Nuts are specifically good for the cells in the liver. A liver cell also consists in part of fatty acids. The fatty acids from nuts repair the liver cells, allowing better removal of waste products. Result: more beautiful skin!
  • Chia seeds contain a high dose of omega 3. This fatty acid has a very beneficial effect on dry, chapped and/or sensitive skin. Omega 3 ensures that the skin is nourished from within.

General nutritional advice

The general advice for healthy eating is to eat plenty of vegetables (at least 250 grams) and fruits (2 pieces) daily, as well as a lot of variety in your diet. Eat little saturated fat and sugars and be careful with salt (sodium) intake.

There are many antioxydants in fruits and vegetables. Antioxidants is a collective term for substances such as vitamins E and C. Antioxidants ensure that substances from our body that can cause damage to cells and tissues are cleared. For example, antioxidants reduce your long-term risk of diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular disease. A healthy diet is not only good for the outside, but also your whole body benefits the most.
