What should you pay attention to when choosing a filler or botox treatment?

After perhaps long consideration, you have decided to have filler treatment or botox treatment. But what should you look out for? Of course, you want the treatment and agents to be safe and you want to enjoy the results as much as possible. After all, it is your face, so it does matter that it is done right! Here are some tips to make your decision with a good feeling.

Tip 1
Choose a trusted physician

There is not yet an official registry where cosmetic doctors must register. But you have to be sure that a doctor is treating you, so he/she must be registered in the BIG register. The BIG register is run by the CIBG, an implementing organization of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. Anyone can access the registry at www.bigregister.nl. Physicians may also be members of the NVCG. This is an association for cosmetic medicine. This registry is also public: www.nvcg.nl. Everyone has the right to honest, factual information about cosmetic treatments. About the possibilities, the expected results and the risks. The doctors of the NVCG aim to empower as many people as possible to look more beautiful, younger and healthier. The doctors at The Body Clinic are BIG registered, and Bart Biermans and Nagita Grover are members of the NVCG. We also have more than 15 years of experience in cosmetic medicine. Write down all your questions and ask the doctor in a consultation.

Tip 2
Choose a safe filler / botox

In the Netherlands, it is illegal to use permanent fillers, so never go to a clinic that offers this. Choose safety and never get treated with permanent fillers, as this can cause too many dangers and permanent complications. Opt for a hyaluronic acid-based filler. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally occurring in the body that is re-dissolved by the body on average between 9 and 12 months. Because it is a body’s own substance, the chance of a foreign body reaction is very small. Hyaluronic acid can also be dissolved by a substance Hyason (hyaluronidase). Medical devices must have a CE mark (Conformité Européenne) and conform to the directives of European legislation. The US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) also closely monitors fillers and botox. You can also see what questions you can ask your cosmetic doctor on the government’ s site. At the consultation, ask the doctor what brands the clinic uses and whether a filler is hyaluronic acid-based. The safe agents we use are: Restylane (supplier Galderma), Azzalure (botox | supplier Galderma), Princess (supplier Croma), Teosyal (supplier Entercare), Radiesse (supplier Merz) and Sculptra. These agents have been on the market for more than 25 years, whose long-term safety has already been proven.

Tip 3
Don’t just look at the price or offer

A good clinic does not have to compete on price. After all, you don’t know why the price is so low…is this because the drug (filler or botox) is mixed with water, what brand (perhaps not registered) is used?, what quantity is used?, is the treatment even performed by a doctor? etc. These are all questions you can ask yourself why a price is lower than average. It’s your face and safety and natural appearance is more important than price! The average price for a zone botox, for example, is 200 euros and for a lip filler (1ml) is 500 euros. The Body Clinic does not compete on price, but competes on quality, safety and a natural result.

Tip 4
Look at experiences of clients who have already been treated

Check out www.kliniekervaringen.nl for client experiences at various doctors and clinics. The Body Clinic has an average of 9.4 out of 1131 experiences from our clients.

Tip 5
Ask the doctor as many questions as possible during a consultation

Obviously, you have already researched via the Internet and then arrive at the clinic/doctor of your choice. But what is also important is the (good) feeling you get with a clinic and a doctor.
During the consultation, ask as many questions as possible, such as:
* what brand is used?
* is the hyaluronic acid-based filler?
* what is the expected result?
* do you have before and after pictures?
* what is the duration of the result?
* what are the possible complications?
* what is the safety of the product/treatment?
* what is the price?
What are your own expectations?

No doctor may perform cosmetic treatment (botox and fillers) on a person under the age of 18. At The Body Clinic, the consultation is always free, and the doctors at The Body Clinic always give honest and considered advice, with a natural result in mind. Before the consultation, you answer some medical questions so that the doctor is fully aware of your medical background. If you wish to be treated after the consultation, you will be given a treatment agreement that you should read carefully and sign for approval.
It’s also always nice when you get a free checkup appointment. So ask about this after a treatment.

If you have further questions, any fears, need more information or would like a free consultation, you can of course call us at 020-4638668 or send an email to [email protected]. We will give you an honest answer!
