What is the difference between hair fillers and hair transplantation?

We recently started a new treatment at The Body Clinic. Namely; a treatment with hair fillers. If you suffer from some form of hair loss, thinning hair or baldness then treatment with hair fillers may be the solution. The best-known treatment for baldness is a hair transplant, but what is the difference between hair fillers and a hair transplant?

Hair fillers

A hair filler treatment is a cosmetic procedure and is performed by a cosmetic doctor. In a hair filler, 7 patented peptides combined with hyaluronic acid are used to inhibit the hair loss process and stimulate hair growth. In hair filler treatment, the hair filler is applied with a thin needle into the scalp at the level of the hair follicles. To achieve optimal results, assume four treatment sessions. This is one treatment session every two weeks for 8 weeks. After your first treatment session, the hair filler ensures that the hair loss process is already stopped. So you will not lose hair from then on. The subsequent treatment session stimulates blood circulation and activates the hair follicles. This causes faster, thicker and firmer hair to grow back. A treatment takes about 15 minutes.

Hair transplant

A hair transplant is a surgical operation and is performed by a plastic surgeon. In a hair transplant, the hair follicles are relocated. These hair follicles are removed from a well-haired area, such as the back of the head, and these are replaced in areas where there is less hair. The hair roots from the hairy area are removed one by one with a tiny hollow needle. Small holes are then made in the bald area and the hairs are placed back with tweezers. A hair transplant is a long-term procedure. On average, this treatment lasts between 6 and 8 hours. About two to four weeks after the hair transplant, the transplanted hairs fall out, but the hair follicle remains. Only after about three to four months is new hair growth visible. The final result is achieved only after nine to 12 months. With a hair transplant, the placed hair continues to grow for a lifetime.

Severity of baldness determines solution

If you suffer from a completely bald scalp, a hair transplant offers more options than a hair filler treatment. This is because hair fillers only work in areas where hair is still present. A hair transplant is often more painful and expensive than a hair filler treatment. Hair transplant prices range from 1,900 euros to 6,000 euros. While one hair filler treatment costs around 350 euros, with that said, a follow-up session is recommended(check out The Body Clinic’s current prices. these may differ from the prices in this blog). Also, the hair loss process is not stopped by a hair transplant. So the hairs can still fall out. Unlike a hair filler treatment where the hair loss process is already stopped after the first treatment session.

We recommend that you always have your hair and scalp evaluated by a doctor first and only then make a decision on the type of treatment for hair loss and baldness.
