What to do about bruising? Een aantal praktische tips!

bart biermans arts the body clinic 1

You may experience minor swelling or bruising after treatment with fillers or Botox. This, of course, is very annoying and you would prefer to counteract it. After treatment, you assume you can just go back to doing your daily things. But then what can you do about a bruise or swelling?

You can reduce this with the tips below.

Arnica drops – can reduce bruising after treatment
Beginning 5 days before treatment, 10 drops, 3 times daily and up to 5 days after treatment
These drops are available in our clinics and at pharmacies/drugstores (e.g., from Dr. A. Vogel).

Cetirizine tablets – against swelling after treatment
1 tablet daily for 5 – 10 days after treatment.
You can get these tablets from your doctor.

To avoid bruising…what can you do before a filler treatment?
– No alcohol 2 days before treatment
– Rather not take blood thinners (medication such as aspirin) 1 week in advance
– Do not use nutritional supplements 1 week before treatment
– Do not use fish oil 1 week in advance

After a botox treatment
– Avoid contact with the injected skin on the first day (do not massage!)
– You should not lie down for the first 2 – 3 hours after the treatment.
– Do not use makeup the first hour after treatment
– First day after treatment no scrubs, peels, laser, microdermabrasion or other facial treatments in the area where Botox was injected.
– Try to use the muscle that has been treated intensively.
– Sports may resume the next day.

After filler treatment
– Immediately after treatment, cool the treated area for 10 minutes
– The same day not exercising
– Do not use makeup for the first few hours after treatment
– Avoid contact with injected skin
– Avoid sunlight on the treated area for the first week. Use sunblock / at least SPF 30 daily
– At least 2 days of no alcohol
– Do not use a sauna or tanning bed for the first week;
– Better to stop dietary supplements for 5 days
– You may not undergo any treatment at a beautician’s office such as peels, laser, microdermabrasion, exfoliation or other facial care treatment in the treated area for the first 2 weeks.

Of course, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that bruising and/or swelling will not be present at all due to these tips, but there is certainly a chance that it will be less.
