One in five Dutch people suffer from migraines. Migraine attacks are accompanied by severe headaches and can last up to 72 hours. Normal painkillers do not help. In addition to headaches, you may experience other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, intolerance to light and sounds, aura formation, flashes of light and visual field loss. The use of over botox injections relaxes the forehead muscles which proves to be very effective against migraines.
Botox against a migraine attack?
It is not known exactly what causes migraine or muscle tension headaches. An important factor seems to be prolonged tightening of the (facial) muscles, for example, when using computer, under stress or bright sunlight. Botox injections cause the muscles to relax, which can prevent migraine attacks.

At The Body Clinic, we use the brand Azzalure. This is an A-brand botox, a naturally derived protein used to temporarily relax muscles. It is applied via injections. Botulinum toxin directly blocks the “tightening signal” between the nerves and muscles in the skin. This prevents the muscles in the skin from contracting (fully).

If you have scheduled an appointment for a free consultation, the doctor will discuss with you your symptoms and your needs. If migraine is actually present, the doctor will ask you to schedule another appointment to perform the treatment. Prior to treatment, you will fill out a medical questionnaire so the doctor can understand your health. Then the frown muscle is treated with botox. It takes about 5-7 days for the botox to actually relax the muscles. So you need to be patient for a while.
