What happens if I stop using fillers

Can I stop using fillers?

Discontinuing fillers is possible at any time. Once you have started a filler treatment it does not mean that you have to endure the treatment until the end of days.

Why repeat treatment?

A repeat treatment is not necessary, but a benefit of a repeat treatment of a filler with Hyaluronic Acid is the skin improving effect. Hyaluronic acid is a body’s own substance that provides the skin with natural hydration, this ensures tight and smooth skin. As we age, the supply of Hyaluronic Acid in the skin decreases, resulting in less moisture and thus less volume. By replenishing the declining supply of Hyaluronic Acid, the skin attracts moisture again. If you have this done regularly, the bioactive effect provides a long-term anti-aging (anti-aging) effect.

Are there any side effects if I stop filler treatments?

When you stop using fillers, your face will not look different because of the filler treatment. You may, however, notice a difference from before treatment; this may be due to the following reasons:

  • Lifestyle

If your lifestyle has deteriorated significantly, it can have a negative effect on the condition of your skin. Of course, this has nothing to do with filler treatment.

  • The natural aging process

From the time you have undergone filler treatment and from the time you decide to stop using fillers, the natural aging process has continued. Therefore, it may appear that stopping fillers makes you appear to have aged when you would have done so without fillers.

  • Habituation

On average, a filler can be seen for about 12 months. This is quite a long period of time. During this time, you have become accustomed to yourself with filler. Once you stop using the fillers, it may cause you to feel that you look different or aged.

  • You have been excessively treated with fillers

Injecting an excessive amount of fillers into a person’s face stretches the skin. Once the filler dissolves after about 12 months, a looser skin remains. Thus, it is important to have treatment performed by an experienced and certified physician.

Can you quit permanent fillers?

Fillers can be divided into two categories: permanent fillers and non-permanent fillers. The most commonly used fillers are temporary and based on the body’s own substance hyaluronic acid. Permanent fillers, on the other hand, are made of a non-body substance, namely silicone. This type of filler is encapsulated by the body because it is a foreign substance. Stopping a permanent filler is virtually impossible unless the filler is surgically removed.

Stopping non-permanent fillers is possible

If you have ever been treated with a hyaluronic acid filler, then stopping is always an option. You are not required to repeat a treatment. A hyaluronic acid-based filler lasts an average of 12 months. How long the filler is actually visible depends on:

  • Treatment area

Research has shown that a hyaluronic acid filler stays in soft tissue such as the lips longer than in other areas.

  • Metabolism

A hyaluronic acid filler is absorbed by the body over time. How fast your body does this depends on how fast your metabolism works.

  • Lifestyle

If you have a poor lifestyle, such as smoking and drinking alcohol, this can cause the fillers to not last as long as someone with a good lifestyle.

Stopping fillers is always possible as long as you have been treated with a temporary filler. Remember in advance that there comes a time when the filler is completely absorbed by the body and is no longer visible. In addition, it is important that you never over treat yourself with fillers, live as healthy as possible, accept the aging process, remember that a filler is temporary and you looked different before treatment. This way, quitting fillers is an easier process.
