danielle miggelenbrink nederstigt manager bodyclinc

Confusion about “lips” is a common topic with us in the clinic. We receive many requests in which people indicate they would like to treat their lips with botox. There is talk of “Botox lips. What is meant by this is lip augmentation. However, an injection of botox into the lips is not the appropriate way to achieve lip augmentation.

Botox in the lips?

Botox and fillers are both the most commonly used products in a cosmetic clinic. Botox treatment is sometimes confused with filler treatment. The treatments have completely different effects and are completely different products. Before you plan to undergo treatment, it is very necessary that you get proper information from a cosmetic doctor. You can discuss your wishes together with the doctor, the doctor will advise you which treatment is suitable for you and which is not. For example, Botox in the lips is a treatment that the doctor will advise you against.

What is botox?

Did you know that botox is a protein and that this protein is found in nature? Botox, also called Botulinum toxin, can cause muscles to relax. By injecting a muscle in the face with Botox, this muscle will relax and you will no longer be able to fully tighten this muscle. Areas regularly treated with botox are the frown, forehead and crow’s feet. Because the botox allows the muscle to relax, the wrinkles caused by tightening can slowly recede. So by injecting Botox into the lips, the muscles in the lips are no longer fully tightened. Thus, the result of Botox treatment in the lips is not lip augmentation as desired. Botox is not the appropriate product when it comes to lip augmentation. Treatment with fillers is the right treatment when it comes to lip augmentation.

Lip augmentation

Lip augmentation is a treatment that is very common in the cosmetic world. Not everyone is born with full lips. Treatment with hyaluronic acid-based fillers is the way to go when you want to enlarge your lips and add more contour.

Hyaluronic Acid

Fillers are almost always hyaluronic acid-based. This is a substance that already occurs in our bodies, this substance decreases in quantity as we age. With fillers you can fill something up, while with Botox you temporarily relax a muscle. Fillers are often used for areas such as the cheekbones, lips, nasolabial fold or earlobes, for example. Of course, you can also use fillers to fill wrinkles.

Products The Body Clinic

At The Body Clinic, we only work with A-brand fillers such as Restylane, Saypha or Teosyal. These products are very safe. Good to know is that all these fillers are temporary and disappear after about twelve months, exactly how fast this goes depends on each person. These fillers, should you not be satisfied, are dissolvable. In fact, permanent fillers are out of date and are also banned in the Netherlands.
