There are several types of fillers on the market. At The Body Clinic, we use fillers based on the body’s own substance hyaluronic acid. This substance is already found in the skin. Hyaluronic acid is known to attract and retain moisture, add volume and resilience to the skin and have a firming effect. There are many brands of hyaluronic acid-based fillers. At The Body Clinic, we use the A-brands: Restylane, Saypha and Teosyal. These are brands that have been on the market for a long time and with which an enormous number of treatments have been carried out whose safety can be dared to be guaranteed.

Loss of volume in the face

With the aging process, we all lose volume in the face, fat reserves and facial support tissue decrease. Treatment with fillers can restore volume to the face. You probably remember the days when you had full firm cheeks. You long for that time, unfortunately we cannot stop the aging process however we can restore volume to your face with hyaluronic acid injections. How fast the aging process goes depends greatly on your lifestyle, heredity and wear and tear. For example, smoking speeds up the aging process.

Is hyaluronic acid a body substance?

Hyaluronic acid is already in your skin, though the amount of hyaluronic acid is very much reduced after 25 to 30 years. When you reach your 70th year of life, there is only 10% of the original amount of hyaluronic acid left in the skin. Due to the decrease, you get more lines that result in wrinkles and your skin gets drier on top of that. Likewise, your head shape may change as the temples fall in, also decreasing the volume in the cheeks, lips and cheekbones.

Fortunately, hyaluronic acid levels in the skin can be replenished with a hyaluronic acid-based filler. The filler attracts water; one molecule of hyaluronic acid attracts as many as 500 water molecules. Your contours can be restored and the shape of your face will return to the way it was, you will shine again and have a youthful look. Areas that can be treated with fillers include the nasolabial fold, jawline, cheekbones, corners of the mouth and cheeks.

Different types of hyaluronic acid

There are different types of hyaluronic acid. By different types, we actually mean different thicknesses. For each area, the doctor decides which thickness is best. A thin hyaluronic acid is used for fine wrinkles and, for example, the lips. On the contrary, if you want to achieve volume of larger areas, the doctor will use a thicker hyaluronic acid gel.

How is hyaluronic acid injected?

Through an injection, hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin. Multiple punctures may be used unless the doctor uses a blunt needle also called a cannula. Only one hole is then made with a sharp needle, after which the doctor then enters the skin with a blunt needle to fill the area. If the doctor uses a cannula, you may have less chance of bruising.
